“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
— Joshua 1:9 (NIV)

What does the text say?

The command: be strong and courageous.

Fear and discouragement are directly addressed—God knows both will come.-do not be discouraged

The promise is God’s presence, not the absence of difficulty.- Lord, your God will be with you wherever you go.

What does it mean?

Strength in this passage is spiritual confidence, not self-reliance.

Courage is required when stepping into new roles, new seasons, and leadership assignments.

God doesn’t remove pressure; God partners with you through it.

Application:

  • Where is God calling me to step up that feels uncomfortable or overwhelming?
  • Am I waiting to feel ready, or am I choosing to be obedient?
  • What fear or discouragement do I need to surrender today?

Action Step:
Identify one decision, responsibility, or calling you’ve been hesitating on and move on it this week IN faith, not fear!-For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7
