1 Kings 18:21 (KJV)
“And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him…”
Elijah’s story is especially powerful because we see both extraordinary faith and very human weakness. He confronted kings, witnessed miracles, prayed for fire from heaven, experienced God’s supernatural provision—and later became afraid, exhausted, and discouraged.
His life teaches us that being used by God does not mean we never experience fear or weakness. It means learning to trust, obey, listen, and return to God through every season.
Who Was Elijah?
Elijah appears suddenly in 1 Kings 17:1 as “Elijah the Tishbite.” His ministry occurred during the reign of King Ahab, when Israel had been deeply influenced by the worship of Baal.
1 Kings 16:30 (KJV)
“And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the LORD above all that were before him.”
Ahab’s marriage to Jezebel contributed to the promotion of Baal worship in Israel.
God raised Elijah to confront this spiritual compromise.
